Barn on the Pemi Wedding || Liz and Barry

So, this was my first time for a Barn on the Pemi wedding - and I have to say - WOW. What an amazing wedding venue, it really has it all. Mountain views (my favorite part), a beautiful greenhouse, and of course a classic New England barn for the reception. If you are looking for an amazing wedding venue in New Hampshire with mountain views, you gotta check this place out (and I guess I should say, uh, I’m not being paid to say that since I’m pretty much gushing here). Also, since it’s owned by The Common Man, you know there’s going to be great food.

“I wanna make you smile whenever you're sad. Carry you around when your arthritis is bad. Oh, all I wanna do is grow old with you. I'll get you medicine when your tummy aches, build you a fire if the furnace breaks. Oh, it could be so nice growing old with you. I'll miss you, kiss you, give you my coat when you are cold. Need you, feed you, even let you hold the remote control. So let me clear the dishes in our kitchen sink. Put you to bed when you've had too much to drink. Oh, I could be the man who grows old with you. I wanna grow old with you.” — The Wedding Singer

I love that movie, and I love that it is one of Liz and Barry’s favorites. It comes back into the story a bit later if you keep scrolling :)

Anyhow, the Barn on the Pemi was a perfect backdrop for Liz and Barry’s gorgeous wedding. I am loving all of the sparkly details that Liz added, and I have to say their ceremony was so sweet I might have even teared up a little.

There was so much joy throughout the day and I am grateful I got to be a part of it!

I’ve asked the couple questions about the day and their answers are in italics throughout. To start, their very cute meeting/engagement stories!

Barry actually noticed me on twitter! He saw my profile and saw that we attended the same university, so he took a chance and reached out to me. What began as a series of snarky tweets to each other soon developed into texting all evening and eventually planning to meet in real life. The day we met, I knew he was the one. It was instantaneous. Truly love at first sight.

We celebrated five years of dating in a very low key way. We went out to dinner after work and came home. I was tired (and honestly a little miffed that we hadn’t done more for our anniversary) so I called it an early night. Suddenly I’m awakened to Barry saying my full name. When I opened my eyes, He was sitting up next to me in bed, holding an engagement ring and asking me to be his wife. What I didn’t realize was that he was waiting up to propose at the exact time he had asked me to be his girlfriend five years earlier. I was half awake, blind without my glasses on, and in total shock. I never thought he’d be able to surprise me like that.

My bridesmaids, mother, mother in law and a few others spent the morning with me getting ready, drinking champagne and watching The Office, one of my go-to shows. I watched the episode where Jim and Pam get married in Niagara Falls because that felt like the most appropriate time to watch that episode. I was definitely nervous, but so thankful to have my core people around me ensuring me that the day was going to run smoothly.

As soon as I heard the first note of the song I chose to walk down the aisle to, I was ready. It was a moment I had dreamt about since I was a little girl, as corny as that sounds. My father walking me down the aisle was such an important moment for me. I’m the only daughter and the baby of the family, so that was just an ultra special moment.

As soon as I got to the altar, Barry and I held hands and it was just pure love. I asked to say my vows first because I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get through them without crying if I heard Barry’s first. I did manage to get through them, but just barely. Funny enough it was Barry who choked up reading his.

We chose to write our own vows and they were so personal and unique to us as a couple. Mine were very sappy, and his were a little silly, and that’s who we are. It was sort of like, here is this very personal declaration of my love and I want all these people to hear about it. That’s such an intimate moment to share with those you love.

After the ceremony, we walked out of the greenhouse and just started laughing. It was like instead of a panic attack, it was a joy attack. We just kept looking at each other and laughing like we couldn’t believe we finally did it. It was amazing.

I’m not a natural in front of the camera. I get uncomfortable when I know I’m the center of attention, which is basically your entire wedding day. Working with you I quickly realized that I could just relax and be myself. There was no pressure to look a certain way or pose a certain way, you helped us feel more at ease which led to more natural and fun looking photos.

We just wanted it to be a fun day. To us, we were basically throwing a huge party to celebrate how much we love each other. What could be more fun than that? We also wanted it to be very personal to who we are as a couple, even if that meant being a little unconventional.

Such a beautiful sunset at the Barn on the Pemi!

Our first dance was beautiful. Everyone we loved in one place watching us celebrate something so special to us.

One thing that was important to us was that the photos looked natural, and not posed. The best photos from the night are the ones where our individual personalities shine through.

Wedding pie!! (And my personal favorite, banana pudding - that was a first that I’ve seen at a wedding!)

I told you “The Wedding Singer” would make an appearance later, right? Well, here it is: Liz’s brother serenaded the couple with some funny parts of the movie, and it was so hilarious and sweet, and obviously Liz loved it.

The party was everything I wanted it to be. All our friends, family and everyone we loved just dancing and celebrating us. It felt so surreal and it went by so fast. Suddenly the music stopped and the lights came on and it was like, what?! It’s over?!
