Colorful Spring Wedding || Tara and Connor
Oh, what a fun day it was for Tara and Connor’s wedding! Although, yes, the rain did make us have to rearrange the ceremony plans, the joy that was in the air that day was just infectious. We hopped around the property at Glen Magna with some clear umbrellas and a plan to stay under the canopy of trees for as long as possible! Thankfully that worked for the most part!
Every time I turned around I saw Tara and Connor with huge grins on their faces, absolutely nothing could put a damper on this day, even a few raindrops. And of course I had a blast photographing all those smiles and hugs, beautiful colorful spring wedding details, lots of fun candid dancing photos and of course the couple having their first hot dog as husband and wife!
Venue: Glen Magna Farms, Danvers, MA
I’ve asked the couple some questions about the wedding day and their st0ry - their answers are throughout in italics.
How did you meet your partner and/or get engaged?
We met each other while working at our college bookstore and then found out that we ran in a lot of the same social circles. It took a year of friendship and study dates before things became official and we were together 5 years by the time we got engaged. We went to the Cape for our 5 year anniversary and after a fun date night and obliterating Connor in pinball he proposed to me the second we got back to our place for the night. :)

We were very interested in having an outdoor wedding but more importantly, our wedding reception in a beautiful garden. We toured several venues throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire but once we saw the gardens at Glen Magna Farms we knew instantly that this was the venue for us! The manor on the property was also a great plus and a beautiful backdrop for photos. The flowers and the venue spoke for themselves and provided the perfect backdrop for beautiful wedding photos.
I am in love with this bright color palette especially for a spring wedding!
Throughout the entire communication process we saw your professionalism, kindness and experience which gave us the full confidence to give you the reins. The second we met you we felt comfortable working with you and knew that you would capture our vision with your photos.
What were your first reactions to the photos?
The sneak peaks made us so excited and it kept the enthusiasm for our wedding going through our honeymoon! We were amazed at how wonderful the photos had come out and loved that they were exactly what we had envisioned. Once we got all the photos we spent hours looking through them and reminiscing on how much fun we had!
Once the rain started in earnest we made our way inside and did some photos inside the library… And the tent was set up for the ceremony so that still went off without a hitch!
We were a little nervous and bummed leading up to the ceremony because we got rained out of the garden but we realized after the wedding that all of the special moments we wanted came out exactly as planned. Either way, we were so overwhelmed and excited that we both completely blanked and went on autopilot throughout the ceremony! We spent a few hours in the mirror leading up to the wedding practicing our smiles, facial expressions, first kiss, etc. for the big day but it went out the door the second we made eye contact on opposite sides of the aisle.
When we told you about our vision regarding capturing special moments with our friends and family you were just as excited as we were and completely on the same page. We also loved all the feedback you gave us and in looking through our photos we appreciate how you captured tiny details throughout the day that we didn't think about but truly helped capture the story of our day. You were able to understand our intentions and help us execute our vision flawlessly!
We really cared about capturing big moments with our friends and family. A wedding is one of the few rare moments in your life where everyone important in your life can gather and celebrate all at once. We had family from all over Europe and the US traveling to see us so we were really looking forward to capturing memories and celebrating with every single one of them.
We had taken dance classes and practiced our first dance over and over so by the time it came to dance we were in the zone and prepared to put on a show! It really is just the two of you in the moment and you get pulled back once you hear everyone cheering for you. We finished the dance excited to tell our instructor how it went!
Our first dance was our most special moment of our wedding day. We had spent ~6 months in dance lessons choreographing and practicing our first dance and it truly brought us even closer together.
It's true what they say that your wedding passes in the blink of an eye! All we remember is a blur of dancing, laughing, and having fun with those we love!
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Trust your gut! A lot of people will have opinions on what you should do or have for your wedding but at the end of the day it's YOUR wedding and trust your gut when making decisions for your big day.
Don't sweat all the small stuff! At the end of the day, most likely something will go wrong (fingers crossed though!)- whether it's the wrong color napkins, running late, a little rain, or whatever! You'll look back on your wedding and the things that went wrong will just be a small detail or a fun fact to recall. Most people won't even know what happened and they'll only remember the love you shared with your partner on your special day.
As for our most anticipated moment, we were counting down the seconds to the appearance of our hot dog cart.
