Glen Magna Farms Wedding || Andrew and Emma
What an absolutely amazing fall wedding at Glen Magna Farms! Andrew and Emma had the perfect day, and I’m so excited to share the (many) photos from their wedding.
I am obsessed with the colors - just check out the guys’ suits - as well as the little fall/Halloween touches they added (the wedding was about a week before Halloween). Not to mention that they had their sweet puppy there for some photos with a beautiful flower wreath collar.
My second photographer, Natalia, and I had such a great time capturing this gorgeous wedding and hanging out with Emma, Andrew and their family and friends all day. Can’t ask for anything better! And of course I’m always thrilled to be back at Glen Magna Farms - it’s one of my favorite venues and I’m lucky enough to get to go back there for a wedding at least once or twice a year. As an aspiring gardener, I’m amazed at how incredible the gardens look, and this late October wedding was no exception. Plus the golden light was perfect during their wedding ceremony.
Wedding Venue: Glen Magna Farms, Danvers, MA
I’ve asked the couple some questions about the wedding, and their answers are throughout in italics.
How did you meet your partner and/or get engaged?
We met online in the fall of 2019. One of our early COVID trips was down to the Cape in the winter, where we visited the Marconi Beach area, which had this very cute overlook with a round platform. I joked about how it looked like it was specifically designed for engagements. And then, four years later, Andrew popped the question in that exact spot!
What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)
Our vision was to have a relaxed wedding that blended tradition with fun twists, and a little touch of Halloween. Our love for each other is always first and foremost, but we wanted to make sure our friends and family could all mingle and have a good time with delicious food and drinks, and plenty of dancing.
There’s so much more from Andrew and Emma’s wedding at Glen Magna Farms below!
Neither of us particularly like getting our photo taken, and we were worried we'd feel really self conscious with a camera around. From our first Zoom call, we knew it would be a good fit, and you did a fantastic job blending into the background so we didn't notice photos were being taken.
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Start early and enjoy the quiet moments you have together, and schedule time to work through your plans with a bottle of wine. Also, try not to get wrapped up in everything you're doing "wrong" according to social media. Do things because you like them, not because someone online said so. We planned a beautiful wedding without the help of social media, and you can too!
What were your first reactions to the photos?
We were blown away. Our vision was to reflect the vibrancy of a New England October, and your photos did just that. We have had such a hard time narrowing down our favorites as there are so many to choose from. We love the mix of posed portraits with those candid moments that you captured so well. It makes it really easy to relive the day.
I cannot get over these colors! I’m so glad that the guys get to have some fun with it too.
I do get all the “standard” wedding party photos, but my favorites are always ones where you’re laughing a little bit!
My second photographer was able to get some fun shots during the formal photos as well.
We did a lot of searching online together and Glen Magna Farms was instantly our first choice. Then, when we started touring venues in person, it was the place that clicked with us the best.
Who wouldn’t want a fall wedding at Glen Magna Farms with this sort of backdrop? The wood lined pathway is especially gorgeous when it’s covered with autumn leaves.
I love this shot that my second photographer captured as Emma walked down the aisle with her parents.
The ceremony left us overwhelmed with emotion -- particularly Andrew (as you may be able to see in the photos :D). It was nerve-wracking but a beautiful experience that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Capturing your parents’ and wedding party’s reactions during the ceremony is always a top priority if I can.
Taking quiet time for the two of us during the cocktail hour is something we both reflect on fondly. The rest of the day is such a whirlwind, so we were grateful to have time to just enjoy each other's company and soak in the moment of being newly married.
When we do the majority of the photos before the ceremony, you’re able to enjoy yourselves for cocktail hour, and I get to capture moments like these!
I cannot get over how gorgeous the gardens are at Glen Magna Farms, at all times of year. They never disappoint!
What did you like best when working with me?
Everything felt very natural, and we loved your calm and relaxed demeanor. We didn't want someone who was going to jump in our faces or be excessively energetic. It kept us grounded during a stressful (but exciting) day. And, you had a great eye for capturing those quiet moments we didn't otherwise think about.
Such lovely fall wedding details! They give a hint of Halloween but aren’t over the top.
We had a lot of fun choreographing our first dance, and it was a total surprise for everyone! Seeing all their faces when the music stopped was worth moving our furniture out of the way several times a week to practice. And after that, we were able to spend a lot of time mingling and thanking our guests, before letting the good times roll!
We had a great time watching everyone put on the homemade Halloween masks that we made for the dance party.
I love it when the parents go crazy on the dance floor!
